M:I-III kicks off the summer 2006 blockbuster season in a spectacular way. It exceeded my (low) expectations and is probably better than the first one too. It cost $150million, which is the biggest budget ever for a first-time director, J.J.Abrams. He is the same guy behind the spy series Alias and the lately masterful Lost TV series, so I was expecting a lot from him, and he didn't screw it up at all. The action sequences are very well crafted and up until the 3/4 of the movie you don't realize how the time has gone by. The finale was somewhat dissapointing to me though, as it wasn't very original and everything went according to plan.
There many wow factors, many short laughs and many smart twists in the action; although there isn't much we haven't seen before, the movie is lots of fun and not a waste of money.
J.J. Abrams said in an interview that there is a hidden reference to Lost in the movie; I couldn't find it.
